The Math behind Weight Loss

One of the persistent questions I have been asked over the years is "How do you eat out so often and yet remain slim?"


Well the answer is very simple - Its basic math.

What?? Math?? What has math got anything to do with remaining slim or losing weight, you ask? Well everything!


The only mathematical equation that matters in weight loss is

Calorie Intake < Calorie Burnt


Yes, its that simple. As long as you can manage this, you can be assured that you will loose weight, no matter what happens.


How do we count the calories?

Well thankfully, today there are many apps available that can help you monitor the calorie intake for each day. Now all you have to do is ensure you burn atleast 500 calories more than you consume.

To calculate the calorie burnt, you need to know your BMR ( Base Metabolic Rate) and use a fitness tracker to how many calorie you burn during your workout. Simply add the two, and as long as it is approx 500 calories more than what you ate, weight loss should be a piece of cake.


Try this simple math equation , and you can expect to loose about a kilo or two every month. No Fad diets. No starving yourself. Infact you can eat as much as you like. Just as long as you can ensure that you burn that 500 calories more than you consume.


So the next time someone tells you that you cant loose weight if you have a pizza, potatoes or a burger, please remember, its just a meal. At the end, all that matters is you burning more than you consume. If you cant burn more, then you have to consume less.


Just ensure you keep the equation correct. Its the simple Math of weight loss. Its not rocket science.
